Introduction
Becher, Della Torre, Gitto & Company (“BDG”) is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (“AICPA”) Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, providing our clients with top quality auditing and accounting services, including internal control reviews and value-added, comprehensive documentation. In 2007, BDG earned the highest rating possible from both the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the AICPA after each of their quality control peer reviews of our audit services. BDG is distinguishing itself by bringing together extensive retirement plan experience and prominent audit and accounting service in time to meet both HR and financial management’s rapidly diversifying auditing needs. We are well known for providing timely and quality audit and pre-audit services, and efficiently coordinate with our clients’ other service-providers, including Big Four accounting firms, in the course of doing so.
A&A Support
We are pleased to introduce you to our employee benefit audit services, particularly for defined contribution and defined benefit plans, including our pre-audit A&A Support described in detail below, and the addition of nationally recognized 401(k) and 403(b) specialist, Larry Heller, an Enrolled Actuary with nearly 30 years of experience in the design and administration of employee benefit plans at Kwasha Lipton, Mercer, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Buck Consultants. Larry joins the BDG accounting team as director of employee benefit services, to further enhance our retirement and health and welfare plan services and A&A Support beyond typical CPA skills..
Wide Range of Audit Services
We offer our clients a flexible and wide variety of services, summarized below, from which they can mobilize as needed. For example, to reduce overall audit costs, we are often asked to provide pre-audit services in advance of another provider’s audit of that plan.
Independent accountant audits of 401(k), 403(b), profit sharing, and defined benefit plans -- these are the audit reports required by the Department of Labor to be filed with IRS Form 5500 for certain plans with over 100 participants. BDG has been performing top quality, low cost audit services for major corporations for over 25 years, and would be glad to provide references.
Pre-audit “A&A Support” and other assistance with internal control reviews and financial statement preparation -- experienced pre-audit data collection, evaluation, and commentary can reduce risk and exposure in the subsequent audit, where the quality of internal controls and financial statements is subject to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and DOL disclosure requirements. This is particularly valuable and timely now for 403(b) plans that will be required for the first time, by 2009, to have audited financial statements.

In-depth diagnostics of internal controls, procedures, and related regulatory compliance and plan design -- an examination of retirement plans prepared, as needed, to go well beyond the basic Generally Accepted Auditing Standards. This is where 30 years of experience in retirement plan administration significantly and cost-effectively adds to our CPA-based expertise in helping clients minimize risk and financial exposure. With the ability to recognize technical and operational defects and inefficiencies in data flow, communications, customer service processes, and any other aspect of plan administration, we are well positioned to alert our clients to issues requiring resolution by HR and benefits management, together with their administrative, consulting, and/or financial service providers, as appropriate.
For More Information
We invite you to browse through this web site for further information about the traditional tax, accounting, auditing, and business valuation services upon which our firm was founded and have continuously grown since 1982. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how BDG can be of assistance to you, your business partners, and the retirement programs to which you come in contact -- toward improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of their annual audit process and, at the same time, improving each plan’s operational efficiency. See the attached article for the flavor of just how many ways this can be done.
